The DDC was founded in Schweinfurt (Bavaria, Germany) in 1999 and is now one of the most famous and versatile breakdancing groups. Having started out with small appearances and taking part in battles, the group continuously developed to become German Champions, European Champions and two-times World Champions in breakdancing. The DDC dancers have been actively promoting the young talent of many children and youngsters in regular courses and workshops since 2002.
Numerous appearances on public television and private channels as well as jobs for renowned customers at home and abroad are in the meantime part of their everyday business. In 2013 they got awarded as Europe’s best dance act and founded their own company “DDC Entertainment GmbH & Co. KG”. With “Breakin’ Mozart” the DDC and Echo award winner Christoph Hagel combine classical music, opera singing and breakdancing. Since 2014 the group played more than 250 theater shows in Germany and other European countries with major success. The DDC continuously stages new productions where they bring apparent opposites together to create entertaining shows full of humor. One good example is “Breakdance in Lederhosen”, a show that connects tradition and modernity - traditional dress meets trainers and alpine music meets funky beats.
By now organizers abroad become aware of the German breakdancing group. The DDC represented Germany at the Wuqiao International Circus Festival in China and opened the Bavarian Week at the EXPO in Milan, both in 2015. At the beginning of 2016 the DDC was on tour with Europe’s most successful acrobatics show “Feuerwerk der Turnkunst”, performing two of their own shows in the biggest event halls all around Germany with more than 220.000 spectators in four weeks. The breakdancers played another two big tours together with Florian Silbereisen and other stars in 2016 and 2017, showing their high level of entertaining arts within “Das Beste der Feste” and “Das große Schlagerfest”. At the YOUNG STAGE International Circus Festival in Basel the acrobatic dancers won the coveted Public’s Choice Award as well as the Engagement Award of Circus Roncalli. In September 2016 the breakdance world champions successfully celebrated the premier of their second cross over project with Christoph Hagel, the full evening show “Fuck You Wagner!”.
2017 was all about expanding internationally, including engagements in the USA, Canada, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Lithuania, Italy and Greece. Numerous TV appearances and the victory of the SAT.1 TV show “It’s Showtime – Das Battle der Besten” underline the exceptional development of the DDC.
One of the most frequently asked questions is about the name “Dancefloor Destruction Crew.” This goes back to the year 1999 when a few of the guys met up for the first time to regularly breakdance. Their first home was the former youth center in Schweinfurt, where they trained for so long until a notice to quit dropped on the door mat at some point.
The reason: the parquet flooring was being ruined due to the breakdance training! The guys took it in their stride and secured new training premises at the Pelzer dance school a little bit later and had found their name: Dancefloor Destruction Crew.
DDC became “DDC Entertainment UG & Co.KG.” in 2013 and therefore a separate company and brand. Four segments within this company cover the entire spectrum of what it offers. DDC Breakdance is the show group's home and at the same time the ideas and talent scout for DDC’s famous show and television appearances. Creativity, acrobatics and wit are the features of the gala shows that have made DDC famous. The major theater and full-length shows, such as
“Weg der Elemente” or “Breakin’ Mozart” are developed in DDC Productions. This is where the story, choreography, music and costumes are developed and where the financing and marketing comes from. One important aspect in the company is its own promotion of young talent. This takes place in the DDC workshops. DDC dancers train children and youngsters in regular courses and therefore promote the talented individuals of the next generation.
In addition, DDC would like to increasingly recommend itself as a professional contact for event planning and organization. For example, the DDC Agency has already been commissioned with organizing the Splashdiving World Championships, the German Breakdance Championships and the German Blobbing Championships.
All four company segments together make up the DDC brand and aim to meet the usual standards of quality, creativity and entertainment!
